India: Steps of transformation through Maharishi's knowledge

One year ago, watching a beautiful sunrise at the beginning of 2010, a leader of the Global Country of World Peace in India saw the morning light dispel the clouds of darkness—and was reminded of how the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi have the ability 'to transform the darkness of suffering into complete, bright, blissful life'.

In each step of this transformation it is important to remember the steps that preceded, said Dr Girish Varma, Director-General of the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India, and National Director of the Global Country in that nation.* As plans are made for the coming year, it is important to remember the achievements of the previous year upon which future plans are built, he said in a recent year-end summary during the global 12 January celebrations.

Beginning on 12 January 2010, a grand two-day celebration in India was attended by 15,000 people. Students and teachers of the Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools were honoured with awards during the festivities.

People from all walks of life enjoyed the celebration—including parents, teachers, and students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools, members of the press, politicians, educators, musicians, film artists, social activists, and health experts.

After the celebration, large numbers of people in the region were inspired to learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

In the coming days Global Good News will continue to feature many great initiatives in India, including expansion of Consciousness-Based Education.
