Lebanon: Many learn Transcendental Meditation, Consciousness-Based Education to expand

Great progress has been made in the past year in bringing the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to many people in Lebanon.

Plans have been set to establish a Consciousness-Based Education institution in the mountains near Beirut, as well as a Maharishi Spa. A detailed business plan has also been drawn up to construct and maintain a Maharishi Tower of Invincibility, which will include a planetarium. The Tower is projected to attract 100,000 tourists each year.

In other news from Lebanon, Maharishi Invincibility Centres* were the setting for many activities and courses during 2010. Over 55 people learnt the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and 22 residential courses were held, including coherence-creating World Peace Assemblies of Yogic Flyers and courses for Transcendental Meditation practitioners—with a total of 390 participants.

Upcoming courses in Maharishi's programmes include a Transcendental Meditation Teacher Refresher Course in Turkey, which will include five participants from Lebanon. Also, Vedic experts will tour Lebanon in April 2011, offering courses in TM Advanced Techniques, as well as Refresher Courses in the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.

The new Global Good News Arabic-language website, www.arabic.globalgoodnews.com—featuring good news from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)—was launched on 10 January 2011, for the 358 million people in 25 Arabic-speaking countries, as well as millions of other Arabic-speaking people around the world.

During the past year, 28 articles on Transcendental Meditation were published in Arabic language newspapers, and four interviews on TM were broadcast on a major TV station in Lebanon.

Four engineers from Lebanon completed the Vastu Coordinators Training Course, Phase II in MERU last fall. Also, a TV interview and two newspaper articles appeared on the topic of Maharishi Vastu (Vedic architecture) during 2010; and a new Arabic website for Vastu will be launched in 2011.

Finally, plans are in the works to establish a Centre for Leadership Performance in Lebanon, where business leaders can learn Transcendental Meditation and gain knowledge of its benefits in the workplace. The Centre will be inaugurated on the Day of Lasting Achievements in May 2011.

These achievements for Lebanon in 2010 were reported in continuing sessions of the 12 January 2011 celebration inaugurating Maharishi's Fourth Year of Invincibility - Global Raam Raj.**
