The Institute of Vedic City Planning offers critical knowledge for the creation of sustainable urban environments in harmony with natural law.
A new website, VedicCityPlanning.com, explains that 'according to the United Nations Human Development Report (UNPD, 2005b), by 2030, 1.7 billion new people will move into settlements not yet in existence. Predominantly these will be found in the developing world (UN-HABITAT, 2006). But, of course, [they will be found] also in the continuously growing cities all over the world and the newer, more sustainable developments.
'It is of critical importance for the sustainable future of our planet, to build these new urban environments so that they function sympathetically with natural law.
'This is an opportunity for urban planners, designers, architects and ecologists to adopt the principles of Maharishi Vedic architecture and city planning, which brings the knowledge of total natural law to architecture.'
The structure of the website reflects the orderly designs of Maharishi Vedic architecture—also known as Maharishi Vastu—making it a good introduction that can be displayed at fairs, exhibitions, and conferences, said an expert in Vedic architecture.
When the website is connected on a large screen, she said, even in a few moments people passing by gain 'a glimpse of Vedic City Planning'.
