The article describes the connection between two important peace initiatives that began several decades ago—the founding of Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, and a United Nations resolution that September 21 would every year be celebrated as an International Day of Peace with community activities.

At Maharishi School students and teachers practice the Transcendental Meditation technique to optimize brain functioning, dissolve stress, and enter 'the peaceful sanctuary within oneself', in the words of one teacher.

On September 21, millions of people around the world participated in the International Day of Peace, including a hundred Maharishi School students, who know how to create peace in a stressful world.
