During a recent visit to Mauritius, Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, together with MUM Trustees Dr Michael Dillbeck and Dr Susan Dillbeck,* addressed Arya Sabha Mauritius—an organization for the preservation of Vedic traditions in the country.

Describing the event a few days later, Dr Morris explained that a large proportion of the population of Mauritius is of Indian descent. The Arya Sabha organization has two schools and two colleges, and also has its own group of Vedic Pandits. 'It was a delight to speak to all these people' who uphold the Vedic tradition of knowledge, he said.

At the presentation, the Vedic Pandits sat in the front row in the audience, listening intently as Dr Morris and the Dillbecks explained 'all the things Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had done to reawaken the Vedic tradition of knowledge' throughout the world.

One important principle they highlighted was Maharishi's fundamental insight that Veda and the Vedic literature are Nitya and Apaurusheya—eternal and unmanifest—and available as the reverberations within the transcendental consciousness of everyone.

Maharishi 'gathered together the scattered forty values of Vedic literature into a systematic sequence of total Natural Law, unfolding with sounds and gaps' in this transcendental field, Dr Morris explained.

Of special relevance and interest to the Vedic Pandits at Arya Sabha Mauritius, Maharishi's great revival of Vedic wisdom also included 'the whole Vedic tradition of the performance of Yagya** from the transcendental level, Para'. Central to this discussion was Maharishi's emphasis on the importance of practising Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, 'in order to be a successful performer of the Vedic sounds', Dr Morris explained.

The Pandits listened 'with great seriousness and asked profound questions afterwards', he said, about the role of Maharishi Vedic Pandits in creating invincible peace and progress for entire nations through their Yagya performances.

Their comments showed that they had really understood Maharishi's contributions in bringing out the knowledge through which Vedic Pandits were being raised to their highest level, Dr Morris concluded—'capable of changing the destiny of a nation that could be 10,000 miles away, through their silent performance within the transcendent'.

Global Good News will continue to report on Dr Morris's visit to Mauritius.
