Great progress and many new developments have occurred this year at the large campus of Maharishi Vedic Pandits at the Global Capital of World Peace* in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India.

The establishment of this group of Pandits is central to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programme to create world peace, through their daily practice of Maharishi's peace-creating technologies of consciousnessTranscendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, as well as conducting Maharishi Yagyas, precise Vedic performances to create specific life-supporting influences for individuals and nations.

All the Pandits are enrolled in a special curriculum designed by Maharishi for their training in the theory and practical aspects of Veda and the Vedic Literature. Dr Girish C. Varma, Director-General of the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan, reported that this year Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya—Maharishi Vedic University in India—has conducted exams for all enrolled Pandits, as per this curriculum.

'All the Pandits now perform Yagyas in the morning hours, and do their studies in the afternoon and evening,' Dr Varma said.

In other news from the Brahmasthan, quite a lot of construction has been accomplished in the past year. Much of this has taken place at the special Bijauri campus for international guests. Newly completed facilities include two buildings with 50 rooms; a building with eight beautiful luxury suites; dining and conference halls for 150 guests; a modern, hygienic kitchen; a library and reading room; a grand reception area; and four halls for group practice of the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme, including Yogic Flying.

From September 2011 to March 2012, the Bijauri campus has organized courses for over 400 participants, Dr Varma said, including directors of Maharishi's programmes and local Meditators from many countries, who have enjoyed the 'enlivening experience' of hearing Vedic recitations being performed from the level of deep silence in the Pandits' consciousness.

Also constructed was a building with 30 rooms, dining and meditation facilities for the members of the Maharishi Purusha Programme.

An event of very great significance took place 12 February at the Brahmasthan, when 1,662 Vedic Pandits performed Ati Rudrabhishek Mahayagya, a special Vedic peace-creating performance for world peace—the first time in 12 years that it was done by such a large group. This historic performance was held in the presence of a great spiritual leader who is revered throughout India, His Holiness Vasudevanand Saraswati Maharaj, Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, and many other eminent international and national guests and well-wishers of Maharishi's programmes around the world. (See A new stage unfolding in Maharishi's programme to create permanent world peace.)

'It was a unique experience for everyone present in the hall,' Dr Varma said, 'and all of us started to think how this Mahayagya, this powerful coherence-creating Yagya could be performed every day. . . . We hope it will continue further and at one point it can be performed every day in the Brahmasthan of India.'

Dr Varma also described efforts to establish peace-creating groups of 9,000 Vedic Pandits in the Brahmasthan, a high priority of participants in Maharishi's programmes in many countries.

Global Good News will feature more about the success of institutions and programmes founded by Maharishi in India, presented recently by Dr Girish Varma.

* On 12 January 2008, Maharishi designated the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan of India as the Global Capital of Raam Raj (administration through Natural Law).
