India: Over 2,000 peace-creating experts established, eventual goal is 9,000

In a speech in Chicago this year, respected business leader Dr Ramani Ayer talked about the Global Peace Initiative, and the work underway to realize one of its central components—establishing a group of 9,000 peace-creating experts in the geographic centre of India.

He told the large and mainly Indo-American audience about one of the main goals of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's lifelong work, to permanently sustain a group of Vedic experts, or Pandits, from Vedic families in India. Through their advanced meditation practices, Maharishi explained, this group of 9,000 Maharishi Vedic Pandits would create an influence of coherence powerful enough to transform the violent and negative trends of the world to a state of lasting global peace and harmony.

Dr Ayer, who was for many years Chairman and CEO of The Hartford Financial Services Group, a Fortune 500 company, visited the centre, or Brahmasthan, of India earlier this year to see how Maharishi's goal is progressing. At the time of his visit to the special Pandits' campus, about 2,000 were living and practising 'Yoga and Yagya' there every day, he said, referring to Vedic technologies of consciousness brought to light from the Vedic literature by Maharishi.*

He spoke about the progress in constructing facilities at the Brahmasthan, near Jabalpur, to accommodate the large group of Pandits and their daily performances.

'Over the last 30 years, Maharishi has been building this vision. What we have done is acquire close to 1,770 acres (716 hectares) of land at the geographic centre of India. . . . Today we can accommodate 2,000; our desire is to get to 3,500 first, which would actually transform the trends in India.'

The next goal is to establish 5,000 Pandits, then finally 9,000 'to truly transform the world's future, the world's destiny'.

Dr Ayer shared with the audience his experiences at the Brahmasthan in February. While there, he was able to listen to a live recitation by 1,331 Pandits of Ati Rudrabhishek. Rudrabhishek is acknowledged in the Vedic literature as one of the greatest Vedic performances to remove obstacles and attain prosperity and peace, he explained.

This is just one example of the types of Vedic technologies the Pandits are trained in, said Dr Ayer.

In addition to completing construction of the Brahmasthan campus, he said, another goal is to create a permanent endowment fund to sustain the group of 9,000 peace-creating Maharishi Vedic Pandits in perpetuity.

* Yoga refers to the Pandits' daily group practise of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, including Yogic Flying. Maharishi Yagyas are precise Vedic performances conducted by Vedic Pandits, to create specific life-supporting influences for individuals and nations from the field of pure consciousness, the Unified Field of total natural law.
