Kyrgyzstan base to close ahead of Afghanistan drawdown

On 2 February 2014 KCENTV reported: As the drawdown brings more troops home early, the US is closing down operations at some bases in countries surrounding the war in Afghanistan. The Transit Center at Manas in Kyrgyzstan will be included in the closures. The US contracted out the base in Manas in 2001.
