Creating enlightenment, invincibility, and permanent world peace through education: Maharishi

Today, on 12 January 2016, the Global Country of World Peace* held its annual conference celebrating the achievements of the worldwide programmes founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and unfolding new initiatives for the coming year.

The conference also highlighted Maharishi's inauguration of the new year on 12 January 2005, when he was celebrating the 'Golden Jubilee' 50th anniversary of his worldwide Movement. At this time Maharishi launched a global programme to establish Maharishi Vedic universities, colleges, and schools in 3,000 cities throughout the world. In his 2005 inaugural address, Maharishi said that the new educational institutions would offer the knowledge and practical programmes to actualize the Constitution of the Universe—the unified field of total natural law—in the daily life of every individual and every nation to create permanent world peace.

'The Constitution of the Universe administers the universe with perfect order,' Maharishi said. 'Total knowledge of the Constitution of the Universe will create and maintain world order so that every individual enjoys enlightenment and every nation enjoys invincibility. This new knowledge will create a new human race.'

Maharishi Vedic University to provide total knowledge of the Constitution of the Universe through 18 faculties
Maharishi said that the new Vedic universities, colleges, and schools would provide the total knowledge of the Constitution of the Universe through 18 faculties to make the knowledge of every area of life complete.

These 18 faculties are (1) education, (2) health, (3) agriculture, (4) management—business and industry, (5) architecture, (6) law and order, (7) invincibility, (8) music and arts, (9) science and technology, (10) public administration, (11) astrology and astronomy, (12) language, (13) world peace/world politics, (14) economics, (15) computer science, (16) communication, (17) engineering, and (18) religion.

Maharishi emphasized that total knowledge of the Constitution of the Universe cannot be gained through lectures and discussions alone. 'The Constitution of the Universe is beyond human intellect,' Maharishi said. 'It is on the transcendental level of Being. It is unmanifest, eternal, beyond relativity, and not subject to change. Vedic literature provides the practical programmes, including Transcendental Meditation, its advanced techniques, and Yogic Flying, for everyone to actualize the Constitution of the Universe in daily life.'

Maharishi said that the 18 faculties taken together would actualize for every student the 18 fundamental areas of the Constitution of the Universe. 'These 18 fundamental areas are contained in the Vedic literature and inscribed in human physiology,' he explained, and have been discovered through scientific research by Dr Tony Nader, MD, PhD.** 'Every week, every student will go through all these areas of knowledge for their theoretical and practical values. This is how the Constitution of the Universe will become a living reality in the daily life of everyone so that the whole human race will always remain in the evolutionary direction of total natural law—the Will of God.'

Study of the Constitution of the Universe will be blissful
In response to a question from the press, Maharishi said that the study of the Constitution of the Universe will be blissful—unlike the stressful task students face in modern education. 'The study and experience of the Constitution of the Universe will be in terms of waves of bliss—not in terms of hard work,' Maharishi said. 'There will be no stress and no strain. Enlivening all possibilities in the Constitution of the Universe will be a joy from beginning to end.'

Maharishi emphasized the value of establishing these educational institutions, 'particularly in India, a strong Vedic India, which will radiate that brilliance of indomitable harmony and coherence which will create the atmosphere, that influence of all positivity, so that everyone enjoys enlightenment in himself and creates the influence of freedom and fulfilment in invincibility.'

'The future of the world is very bright,' Maharishi said. We are very fortunate, he said, to have the opportunity to celebrate today this 50th anniversary of the worldwide movement that started to radiate total knowledge, and those glorious technologies of consciousness, 'to make the total natural law, the whole Constitution of the Universe a living reality of the individual life, and of the national life, and of the international life of our dear world.'

* The Global Country of World Peace was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as a consortium of educational organizations in more than 100 countries working to create a new era of peace, progress, and prosperity in our world family. It is a 'nation without borders', a home for peace-loving people everywhere.
